Verify School. Death to the "Call School Board"

I always hated the lazy agent "Call School Board" entry. Don't you know that people search based on schools and if you leave them out, people will miss your home?

Well now we have a "Verify Schools" link. It shows up in about 60% of the counties. Some are simple links to a page with more info, but many will include the home address in the link and immediately pull up the exact schools for that address.

Like everything though, if a school is a 100% crucial factor, you need to triple check in case the boundaries just got moved.

  2. Thanks, would you be interested in seeing School Boundary zones in the map search?

  3. Frank - In some instances, I think realtors use "call school board" as a way of letting prospective buyers know that there are boundary studies in process that could affect the school districts. For example, you can enter an address in the FCPS boundary locator, and find out the current assignments for Fairfax County, but won't necessarily know that the boundaries may change in 1-2 years.

  4. I am glad to hear of your optimistic view of Realtors. However, each case I have heard of was a matter of "I don't know the schools, so I will just say to call the school board" or an agent using the excuse "I don't want to get sued so I always put call school board".

If an agent knows of a boundary change, and they are a stellar agent, they should probably highlight the change and not resort to Call School Board.

Also almost every REO has Call School board. Because they do high volume and don't care about the details (ie 1 photo).

Once somebody is about to buy a house, if it is important, they should always call the school board, even if the school is listed by the Realtor.
